abstract

This article provides an overview of the main stages in the establishment and development of teriological research in the Zhytomyr region. This region encompasses Polissya and the Forest-Steppe, and is characterised by varying degrees of research into mammals. Based on the works of renowned scientists and amateurs, as well as materials from organisations and institutions, the main directions of theriological research in this territory are examined, from the 19th century to the present day.
