There are 96 skulls of 18 species from 12 genera and 5 families of Ungulata in Prof. O. Brauner’s collection deposited in the Museum. The collection had been formed between 1900 and the late 1930s and mostly originates from Askania-Nova, where the collector had been working for a long time. This is where a skull of a female Przhewalsky horse originates from, whose parents were trapped in Mongolia, as well as skulls of two female bison, one of which was obtained from Bialowieska Puscha. Among interesting items are also skulls of domestic animals: nine skulls of horses of nomad nations, 7 horse and 1 cow skull from archeological excavations, one or two skulls of the Ukrainian grey cattle (currently rare) and 29 skulls of five sheep breeds. This craniological collection is one of the oldest in Ukraine and it has high scientific value. The full checklist of the collection with original label data and information on its current condition is provided. All skulls are glued and stored in a separate room.
