Results of detailed morphological description of the remains of small mammals (Lipotyphla, Lagomorpha, Rodentia) from the Middle Pleistocene locality Medzhybizh (MQR 3, MIS 11) in Ukraine are analyzed in the paper. Short geological data, quantitative and qualitative composition of mammals are presented here. The faunal checklist includes 30 small mammal species, mainly voles (Arvicolidae). Remains of Lagomorpha, Erinaceus, Lagurus, Micromys, Mimomys, Marmota are quite rare. The appearance of species Neomys newtoni and Microtus (Agricola) agrestis is noted for the first time in this region. Identified mammals existed during the Likhvin interglacial (Zawadiwka stage) in terms of mainly warm and humid climate with short cooling periods. It is also supported well by palynological data. Fauna of the Medzhybizh locality is stratigraphically belonged to the Babel’ association. It is more ancient than those of Gunky and Petersbuch 1 and somewhat younger than the fauna of small mammals from Ozerne 2, Rayhorod and Tarko. |
В статті проаналізовано результати детального морфологічного опису решток дрібних ссавців (Lipotyphla, Lagomorpha, Rodentia) з місцезнаходження середнього плейстоцену України — Меджибіж (MQR 3, MIS 11). Подані також короткі геологічні відомості та загальний кількісний і якісний склад мікротері¬офауни, яка налічує 30 видів з домінуванням представників родини щурових — Arvicolidae (50 % видового складу). Досить рідкісними є рештки Lagomorpha, Erinaceus, Lagurus, Micromys, Mimomys, Marmota. Відмічена перша поява в історії регіону видів Neomys newtoni та Microtus (Agricola) agrestis. Теріофауна існувала в час ліхвінського міжльдовиков’я (завадівський етап) в умовах динаміки переважно теплого і вологого клімату з короткими періодами похолодання про що свідчать також і палінологічні дані. Стратиграфічно вона належить до бабельської асоціації та є древнішою від фауни Гуньки і Petersbuch 1 і дещо молодшою за фауни Озерне 2, Райгород та Tarko. |
